Millennials: Trying to Thrive While Just Trying to Survive
Millennials: Trying to Thrive While Just Trying to Survive
Millenials, the generation that was promised “follow your dreams” but got “LOL, good luck affording rent” instead. We’re the walking contradiction of work hard, but don’t burn out. Save money, but also treat yourself. Prioritize mental health, but never miss a deadline. It’s exhausting!
Priorities: Stability - Never Heard of It.
What do millennials actually want? Simple:
• A decent-paying job (with actual work-life balance).
• A home that doesn’t cost their soul.
• A retirement plan that isn’t “hope I win the lottery.”
Yet, thanks to student loans, stagnant wages, and a housing market that’s basically a joke, most of us are out here celebrating affording avocados like it’s a major life achievement.
The Struggle Is Too Real
Millennials have mastered the art of functioning while low-key panicking. We’re burnt out, underpaid, and somehow expected to keep up with hustle culture while also prioritizing self-care. The math just isn’t mathing.
Let’s not forget:
• Healthcare. Only if you’re lucky enough to have a job that offers it.
• Buying a house. Sure, right after we finish paying off our degrees that were supposed to guarantee financial security.
• Marriage & kids. Hard to plan for a family when you’re still figuring out how to afford a car battery replacement.
Self-Care: The Only Thing Keeping Us Sane
Since we can’t afford actual stability, millennials have perfected budget self-care. A few classics:
• Therapy or just hyper-analyzing our trauma through memes.
• Vacations or more like a weekend at home pretending we’re in a fancy hotel.
• Retail therapy or buying one expensive skincare item and calling it “an investment.”
• Yoga or napping on the mat.
Final Thoughts: We’re Doing Our Best
Despite the chaos, we’re resilient. We juggle jobs, side hustles, and existential crises like pros. So here’s to us, figuring it out one overpriced latte at a time.
